First of all they are building downstairs with men going in and out with wheelbarrows, bags of cement rendering that whole area unusable.I have no idea why people rate it so highly. The owners have no idea about running a business. The rooms are freezing cold as is one of the sitting areas. Everything was grubby, uncared for and badly lit dangerous with steps here and there that you couldn't see. There was no dining area due to the building work. The roof terrace had a mattress with a filthy cover, the one table had a filthy cloth covering it and the 4 uncomfortable chairs were in a bad state. Food was of poor quality and always an hour late. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss.

This was the first time we stayed in this hotel. Even after reading the reviews we were completely floored by the warm hospitality of the owners. Though it will sound repetitive the food was simply excellent. By the third day we had almost become part of the family and enjoyed each moment there. Exploring the fort, simply lazing in the sun and eating delicious home cooked food comprised this laid back short vacation.

We visited the fort in March 2018 and were greeted by the owner and his staff who showed us around the impressive structure and let us see the many different rooms. We were then invited for tea with the owner who told us stories from growing up as royalty at the fort. He made us feel very welcome, and afterwards the groundskeeper walked us into town and organized the key to the golden room. All in all, a very special experience. Highly recommended!

This must be the best place to stay at in the Shekhawati Region. All the reviews say that they make you feel part of the family and I can only concur. I immediately felt at home and ended up staying twice as long as I had planned and even attended the wedding of one their relatives. Bhagwati, Seema and the tireless Asha look after you like a member of their family. Asha will take you to the local sights (the stunning golden room, the dancing hall, the temple) and Mahansar is not far away from Ramgarh where there is a lot more to be explored. Bear in mind that the food is not cheap (but excellent) and there are no ATMs in the village so bring enough cash with you in case you extend your stay! It is also a fort in the desert so does get a bit cold at night in winter but you will get as many blankets as you need. Overall a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of India, see some nice havelis and relax on the rooftop terraces while avoiding touristy Mandawa. The closest railway hub is Churu and there are buses from Ramgarh/Bissau. I paid 150 rupees for a tuk tuk from Ramgarh which seemed like an okay price.
